(Brian Kinney, a Paraplegic Rider With Landing Wheels Hits the Road Once Again. You can’t keep a good biker down: Ohio motorcyclist ditches the excuses; finds a way to ride less than a year after paralyzing motorcycle accident). My name is Brian. On September 4th, 2009 I was leaving work on my bike and heading home as usual. When I pulled out of the parking lot, a woman in in a car across the street pulled out and ran me off the road. I hit a tree head first and was out knocked out. When I woke up in the hospital, I found out my spine was crushed on impact and I was paralyzed from the chest down. My life has forever changed but thanks to a Shoei helmet, I still have my mind…something I couldn’t live with out in this condition. Since my accident, I’ve had to learn to live all over again. Instead of p****** and moaning, I have vowed to keep my head up and figure things out. Everyone was amazed that only 4 months after my accident, I was back to work and driving again. My love for riding never faded after my accident. 6 months ago, my goal became getting back on my bike. After a ton of work, blood sweat and tears, I’m BACK on the same bike. (hence the plate…also my initials) Here is my modified 650R. I use and electric shift solenoid (controlled with left hand) and a linear actuator to raise and lower the “landing gear.” (switch on throttle side) It is unbelievably stable. Once I get rolling, I hit a switch on the right hand control and I’m off! I use straps on my legs

As someone interested in riding and actually shopping for a Ninja 650, i’m glad I came across your video. This was truly inspirational, not only to riders but to everyone who has ever suffered from a tragedy and thought about giving up. Thank you for sharing your story! I most definately will NOT skimp on my helmet.

this is so encouraging. my older brother just came off his bike, and broke L1 complete. we both ride bikes, im currently re-building his. and he’s determined get back on his bike. im so happy theres a way for him to ride again

My biggest challenge is keeping my pants up… I was told by my doctors that I’d be dead had I’d been wearing a helmet. I know that’s usually not the case.

@blackpearlv6

Hey, Brian

Sorry about your accident, but your a strong dude. The dangers are always oblivious to those who ride for passion. At the end of day, that’s the reason we ride, even if there is danger involved.

Hey, this is Brian. Thanks for the feedback! Metalplatedhand…only you can decide if you want to get back on the bike. You are responsible for your own risks. Its hard to say what I’d do if I was in your shoes and could still walk. I’d probably still ride. Stupid to some but other riders understand.

I am a T1 complete paraplegic. Clayc316, the dudes name is Lee Beaver and he has videos on youtube. I will try to track him down for you.
