What height/weight ratio will get me best life insurance rates?

Motorcycle Insurance Rate

I want to replace some ART life insurance with level term. But I’m worried my weight relative to height might keep me from the best rate. Is there some way to find out what numbers trigger higher risk? If so I might wait another year and try to lose 10-20 lbs.

Each company has their own height and weight tables which are not made public. If you contact an independent agent the agent should be able to find the best policy for your situation. They know the tables for the companies that they write through and will let you know if you need to lose weight.

Each company has different height/weight charts, so there is no single answer to this question. However, the height /weight charts of several companies are available on the internet, and if you do a search using insure.com and enter your height/weight, it will filter out policies you are unlikely to qualify for.

Even if you lost a lot of weight in the last 12 months, the rule of thumb most underwriters use is to add back half of it to get your real weight (since so many people see-saw). Work with a competent agent who will be able to walk you through your options and find the best insurance company for you. As a general rule, the ART and level term are underwritten with the same guidelines.

Height weight charts vary by company. Companies also tend to average your weight over a 1 year period.

You can always get a shorter term policy and once you get down to your ideal weight for a year, reapply for a new policy and lock in a long term at that time.
