I think it’s the law anywhere to have a motor vehicle insured, any motor vehicle that will be used on the road, and I know there is a limitation on what HAS to be liscensed, and what doesnt, I can’t recall at the moment what it is, and if it varies from place to place.

Even if the law does not require it, BUY IT ANYWAY FULL COVERAGE WITH UNDERINSURED/UNINSURED MOTORIST PROTECTION. Why? I had my first wreck ever in 37 years last June and they had only $ 25,000.00 in insurance which is $ 5,000.00 more than the minimum but my attorny is still fighting to cover all my bills, just 24 hours in the hospital cost $ 28,000.00 and they paid $ 8,000.00 on my Yamaha Silverado whjich I used to buy a Harley Sportster 883.as a replacement bike. My helmet is the only thing that saved my life as i flew over the car and landed face first on the hot Texas pavement. Especially on a Harley buy insurance. It does not cost that much.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, liability insurance is required for motorcycles too. I believe it is 25/50/25 minimum.

Ronald,Ronald,Ronald, My advice is not to worry about weather it’ legal or not. But please get the insurance,It’s not that expensive and a biker has more to lose then someone in a car. How many times do you think you can crash your new bike before it does you in.Take it from the man from Texas, He’s lucky he is here to tell you what he went threw I lived in Colo.and owned a v65 Magna. I was out riding from Glenwood Springs to Grand Junction at night following a big rig. Thinking all the noise from it would scare the deer off the road. WRONG. After the semi past the buck made a mad dash. I slammed into it. The Insurance paid for my bike,But I still tremble with the thought of that night.I now do not ride at night, and I buy all the Insurance I can get.
