Insurance

This economy is crazy. There isn’t a single person around the world who is not looking to cut back on costs. Nor more than ever, it is absolutely vital to keep expenses down to a minimum. Some people spend hours and hours on end comparison shopping to shop for bargains. Yet, many don’t even give a second thought to shopping for lower car insurance rates, and that is a huge mistake, since you could easily save hundreds or even thousands of dollars this year. What could you do with a few hundred dollars this year?

Think about it – when was the last time you looked to see if you could get a better rate on your auto insurance? It was probably exactly when you originally signed up for insurance. And chances are, you didn’t even do it then. Couple this with rising maintenance costs, staggering fuel prices, and increasing taxes, and sometimes it seems that consumers will never get a break. So it’s in your best interests to lower your car insurance rates.

That being said, how can you go about finding lower rates for your car insurance? You should first look internally to your car insurance needs. You could quite possibly be carrying more insurance than you need. You should know the state minimums and whether the states require anything special like in the no-fault states such as New York and California.

You should then figure out what you will be able to afford. You should figure out what you can afford in terms of a monthly premium and in terms of a deductible. But the question always asked is what you can afford with regards to a deductible.

When it comes to a deductible, you should take inventory of your savings and your comfort level. Typically, the average driver will not get in an accident in which the damage done to the other car will exceed the cost of the deductible. So you should keep the deductible as high as you can in that you will be able to afford the deductible without dipping into credit. For example, if you have three hundred dollars in savings, you should pick a deductible that is about three hundred dollars… no more.

Lastly, you should shop around and compare companies and the insurance rates that they have to offer. There are many car insurance comparison sites that will be able to give you quotes for dozens of companies at once. Fill out your information one time and the site will give you the best rates they find amidst all of the companies.

With the high cost of insurance and the low home values is it worth losing your home to carry medical insuranc?

Which would you chose; to go in debt to pay for insurance in case something happens so you do not lose your home? Or not pay for insurance and hope to god nothing happens bad enough to make you lose your home anyway by not having insurance?
If you had to pay your insurance and do not currently how would this affect you, and what would you do?

Insurance of all kinds is a gamble. You are trying to protect yourself from a “bad” event. Often when that bad event happens the Insurance Companies do their best not to offset your loss by denying your claim on a technicality. This is true of all Insurance of all kinds. Blue Sheild of California has just lost a court battle for canceling policies on technicalities as soon as a policy holder needed the coverage to cover an illness or injury. They must reinstate thousands of such policies and reimburse those clinents for their out of pocket expenses. But while they battled it out in court how many of those policy holders lost EVERYTHING because they did not have the money to pay those medical bills they thought they were protected form? How many died because their incomes could not cover expensive treatments?
