Meldrick taylor was or no KO in his fight ( 1 ) against JC chavez ?

Question by attends walo: Meldrick taylor was or no KO in his fight ( 1 ) against JC chavez ?
My impression is referee Richard steele did not gave him time to answer when he told him twice :”are you oK ?”

Meldrick got off the floor, nodded his head that he was OK. Richard Steele should have allowed him to finish the round on his feet.

The main complaint was that the bell would have saved Taylor, not that he was not in trouble.
The referee insists he did not know how much time was left in the round so it did not enter into his decision.
I think that Taylor was out on his feet. When Steele asked him to respond, Taylor’s response was to look at his corner for help.
The question is not whether Taylor was out or not, but if Steele should have allowed the round to end, thus saving him from defeat.
if you look at replays of the ending of the fight, there are about 5 seconds left when steele waves it off, but only 2 seconds left when the timekeeper stops the clock.
if steele had let it go on, chavez had 5 seconds left to land one more potentially dangerous right hand, which could have seriously hurt taylor (i mean, look at taylor today!).
during the fight, taylor:
suffered broken ribs
swallowed two pints of blood
suffered a fractured jaw
i believe steele was right to stop the fight, and win or lose, it would have made little difference to the rest of taylor’s career,

Steele was not obligated to check the clock when Taylor failed to respond, if he could continue. The call was correct.
He couldn’t answer – he was DONE! Never the same again eiher! Chavez really beat him up bad!
