Several people reportedly lived in the Whittier Boulevard location. More than 100 firefighters battled the fire, which was fed by petroleum and tires. Jaime Buenrostro was in his kitchen after 6 a.m. Monday when he heard the desperate screams from the auto repair building behind his Boyle Heights home. Several people, who reportedly lived inside the business, were trapped.
